Danish Iqbal Named CEO of Somerset Reinsurance
HAMILTON, Bermuda, March 26, 2025 (FINANCE INTERVIEWS) – Reinsurance company Somerset Reinsurance Ltd. has appointed Danish Iqbal as Chief Executive Officer, effective April 30, 2025. Iqbal succeeds Jeff Burt, who will transition to co-CEO of Aquarian Insurance Holdings, Somerset Re’s parent company. According to the company, the two will share co-CEO responsibilities during the transition period.
Iqbal previously served as President of Neptune Reinsurance Limited, a Bermuda-based reinsurer integrated into Somerset Re in December 2024. In that role, he led the development of the organization’s infrastructure and its licensing process with the Bermuda Monetary Authority. He has also held leadership roles including Chief Actuary at Aspida Re, where he oversaw actuarial operations and managed the company’s sale to Ares Management Corporation.
Earlier in his career, Iqbal was Head of Pricing and Valuation at Somerset Re. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a CFA charter holder. He holds a BMATH in Honors Statistics from the University of Waterloo.
